I just finished a seminar called "Adapting Material for the Big Screen." The discussion panel featured screenwriters Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada), Audrey Wells (Under the Tuscan Sun), and Bill Wittliff (Lonesome Dove, Legends of the Fall). The seminar was rather sobering as all the writers shared different experiences of the frustrations and dissappointments that have, over the years, taught them to be more pragmatic.
