1 Corinthians 13:1-2

“We’re just not quite sure a feminist governor from Alaska with a year’s experience in governance (not to mention her 17-year-old daughter pregnant out of wedlock doing her part to contribute to the further demise of the family), working for John McCain will do any more than GWB did to salvage the economy, halt the growth of government, repair the family, and quiet the Sodomites beating down our doors. Call it a breach in confidence. Oh well. At least her daughter wasn’t a lesbian.”

While I know some Christians take Christ’s command to turn the other cheek as a call to be so humble, compassionate, and loving that people are drawn to our Savior, I’m starting to wonder if some Christians take it as a command to be so haughty that people want to punch us in the face. . .twice.

Truth. Equality. Simplicity. Peace.

Pretentious Politics

The pretensions of civil authority are inconsistent with the nature of the gospel and contrary to its precepts. Those matters are altogether extrinsic to ruling and governing of political states. Christ expressly signified that his kingdom was not on this world. If the propagation of the gospel had any inseparable relationship to worldly kingdoms, Christ did not say so. His example furnishes abundant evidence of how we are to act in such matters. He showed us that the gospel is propagated by persuasion and by the power of God. It will not be spread by the use of whips, imprisonment, banishment, and murder.

As If It Even Matters. HA!

Click here to read Psalm 2

Donald Rumsfeld with Saddam Hussein in 1983.

"God in heaven does indeed laugh to scorn the furious raging of the people (Psalm 2:1). He laughs at our political passions and our military and revolutionary storms. All this, serious enterprises included, has precisely the dimension and value of a noise. In truth the dramas of the nations belong to this level, so that no one can finally glory in what results. We need to be convinced in all our political actions (and they are far from being futile) that we too have no reason to be triumphant."

The Politics of God and The Politics of Man

"Of every earthly plan that be known to man, He is unconcerned,
He's got plans of His own to set up His throne
When He returns."
